The Cherubim of God

Ascending even deeper into the Glory of God, reflected in the holy Cherubim, God’s immutable truth is made manifest. Pure and ineffable light shed forth from the Godhead in most abundant manner, poured first into the angels of truth, illuminating the minds of those celestial creatures which behold the Mind of God.

Genesis 3:24   First Appearance of the Cherubim
“And so He drove the man out, east of Eden; and He stationed the Cherubim with a flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the Tree of Life.”

Ezekiel 1:6   Description of the Cherubim

“They were in human form, but each had four faces and four wings, and their legs were straight, the soles of their feet like the hooves of a bull, gleaming like polished brass. Human hands were under their wings, and the wings of one touched those of another. Their faces and their wings looked out on all their four sides; they did not turn when they moved, but each went straight ahead.

10 Their faces were like this: each of the four had a human face, and on the right the face of a lion, and on the left, the face of an ox, and each had the face of an eagle. 11 Such were their faces. Their wings were spread out above. On each one, two wings touched one another, and the other two wings covered the body.”

These brilliant creatures, shining with holy truth, are tasked with the most precious duty of spreading the Gospel, and are duly named the first Evangelists. (Mark the Lion, Luke the Ox, John the Eagle, and Matthew the Man)
